A 30 Day Journey in Creating Daily Habits
Over the last couple months, I’ve taken a bit of time off from adding new content to this blog. Part of the reason was to focus on a number of other projects. But a bigger part was to refocus my goals as to what I want to accomplish through Fulfilled Purpose.
One of the biggest goals that I had originally set was sticking to a Tuesday/Friday publishing schedule. Unfortunately, I kinda veered off the road a bit, and for that I’m sorry.
When I did ultimatley fall short, I took my eye off the ball and got “caught up” in a number of other distractions. I was doing things that felt right and good, but didn’t quite accomplish what I ultimately wanted to get done. Does that sound familiar?
That’s the problem with attempting to fulfill our goals. Sometimes they go exactly as planned. But other times, we fall flat on our face. And even sometimes, we start off strong, and then sort of just fizzle away.
And so that happened with me. Sort of.
Really, I guess I never took that next step as to what I hoped to accomplish through the Tuesday/Friday schedule. Having taken a step back, I suppose I did accomplish the goal I had in my mind. But I was never really clear about it.
See, the goal in publishing on those days was to hold myself accountable to move forward in the content and message that I wanted to share.
And for a while, I did. But I didn’t feel like it was resonating.
So, I decided to film a segment every Monday as well and publish that to my Facebook page. And those were getting quite a few more views than my blog posts seemed to get. And so I shifted my attention to video content and spent the bulk of my writing time working on a few other pieces of content. Namely my first ebook (which will be coming soon!) as well as a keynote talk that I will be delivering very soon (the first one is coming in a few weeks, with a few more to be scheduled not far behind!)
But I feel like I’ve neglected this blog. It’s been kinda quiet around here. And while I don’t LOVE to write, I do enjoy it. It’s a different type of outlet and I want to get back to it.
So here’s what I am planning to do. For the next 30 days, I will be publishing a new post everyday. Yup, every single day. Saturday’s. Sunday’s. Even Thanksgiving.
What am I going to talk about over these next 30 days? Well, I have a list of things to get us going, but that’s where I need your help. I want to write about the things that YOU, my reader, want to read.
Here’s what I have in mind:
- Setting Purposeful Goals (which incidentally is the topic of the talk and the book that I’m currently working on)
- Creating a Life Plan
- Developing systems to help you stay on track
- Living the Dream
- What Hard Work will Really Give You
- and as the title of this post suggests, The Power of Creating Daily Habits
And a few other things. I share this short list to help you see where I can see things heading.
But here’s where I really need your help. What do YOU need to know? What is it that would serve you as we begin to close out 2015, and get ready to dominate 2016?
